The objectives are to clarify the dissolution behavior of the ferritic phase and the austenitic phase of a duplex stainless steel (DSS), and to propose a corrosion mechanism of DSS through dissolution behavior at corrosion potential, respectively. A preferential dissolution mechanism model of a DSS is proposed using internal polarization curves of each phase. In the next study, the initiation behavior of pitting at titanium carbonitride by means of in situ AFM observation under a potentiostatic condition was found. The objectives in the third study is to clarify the effect of dilute formic acid on corrosion of a carbon steel. Its effect was to increase cathodic current density on corrosion reaction of a carbon steel, and corrosion rate of the carbon steel.
